  1. CONVENING – 4:02pm
  1. PUBLIC COMMENTS -None
  1. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM JULY 10, 2018 MEETING-Minutes approved with corrections.
  1. REPORTS & UPDATES

Reports and updates on library governance, management, programs, services and support group activities as well as City Council activities. All items are for discussion only.

    1. TOWN COUNCIL LIAISON REPORT –Report received by group, including update on Civic Center project and Vintage Oaks.  October 17 Town Council to discuss Summer nights on the Green and  welcomes library input. Russian River Ribbon cutting upcomming. 
    1. LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT –Report received by group.  New free electronic resources available to library customers include Kanopy (streaming movies including international films and documentaries) and Britannica encyclopedia (English, Spanish and images rights for school reports). Petaluma branch is getting a "refresh", SR library will host an all-LAB meeting in 2019; Hublets -- tablets for use in library are being introduced at all locations.
    2. LIBRARY COMMISSIONER’S REPORT –Report received by group, including discussion of hiring process for new Library Director,
    3. BRANCH MANAGER’S REPORT -–Report received by group. Notes below:

Staff

  • Recruitment currently under way for permanent Library Director.

Building

  • Memorial ‘mural’ to be completed in late October. 
  • New lobby digital sign installation in progress.

Town/Outreach

  • In September 4 classes of Cali Calmécac 1st Grade students visited the library for tours.
  • Outreach storytimes conducted at Children's Circle (Town of Windsor), Kinder Circle (Town of Windsor), Windsor State Preschool (included parent workshop) and Montesorri in Motion (Town of Windsor).
  • Upcoming partnerships with Bloco Novo (aka Windsor Bloco) for Día de los Muertos celebration. 

Events

  • 36 Attendees at  1 2 3 Andres concert for families (on a Monday evening).
  • Ongoing Monday adult computer classes have been getting 5-10 participants.
  • Please share upcoming Path to College workshops with any families of Teens you may know.
  • First 3D printer workshops scheduled for November.
  • Homework Help to be evaluated in Nov for continuation.
    1. FRIENDS OF THE WINDSOR LIBRARY REPORT- Report received by group.  Report on book sales: The book cart is a little slow right now, but the five summer books sales at the Windsor Certified Farmers’ Market made $1371.67 in sales and sold $51.00 worth of Peanut Quilt raffle tickets, for a grand total of $1422.67

  1. DISCUSSION ITEMS

5.1 Recruitment of LAB members-Discussion of how to recruit new members for current vacancies, and request for flyer from Library Graphics department.

  1. ACTION ITEMS

6.1 Nomination and Election of Officers – “D” Graner elected Vice-Chair.

6.2 Use of Outreach Funds- Suggestion made that LAB sponser 1 concert on the town green in summer 2019.  This would include display of library banner and booth for providing information about the library.  To be voted on at next meeting.
